Frequently Asked Questions

Which class is right for me?

No previous bellydance is needed for beginner level classes. Other classes are mixed-level and some are for intermediate + level dancers. If you have some background and are interested in a more advanced class, contact Raena.

How long before I'm not a beginner?

On average, most dancers are considered "beginner" for the first two years of classes. Of course, your progress depends on how many classes you attend and your at-home practice time. Yet, even seasoned professionals regularly practice basic drills to prevent bad habits and maintain their skills!

What ages do you teach?

My weekly classes are for adults (18yrs+). I do welcome mature teens (13+) IF their adult is participating in the class.

For 13 yr and younger, I'm happy to teach workshops for homeschool groups, church groups, clubs, GSA Scout events (there is even a badge), and birthday parties upon request.

Are classes for females ONLY?

Dance is for everyone! Raena is supportive of all students, and strives to be inclusive. Please contact Raena to discuss your interest and how her class can be a safe place for your dance experience.

Do you have babysitting? Can my child come and wait?

Sorry, there is no babysitting available for in-studio classes. An older, independent child is welcome to sit in the waiting area, as long as they are responsible. Please notify Raena ahead of time as the studio may require you to sign an extra liability waiver.

What if I have to miss a class due to vacation, illness, or work?

Monthly tuition is non-refundable. Online classes are recorded and shared with the participants so you won't miss anything. If you regularly miss in-studio classes, you may want to consider being a "drop-in" student and join us when it works for you.

Do I have to perform? OR.... When do I get to perform? I can't wait!

No one has to perform but you will be offered opportunities. For those ready to share their dance, Raena will periodically "book" the class in a local "hafla", which is a super fun event hosted by dancers for dancers. These shows are a great way to show off your new skills without the stress of a public venue. Students can dance solo, collaborate with classmates on a piece, or the group will dance together performing the latest of Raena's class choreographies.
